Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) majoring in both Interactive Design and Graphic Design. It is pretty challenging to pursue two master's degrees, but I am obsessed with being creative and designing things, which is where I see my future.
My undergraduate studies in Electrical Engineering at Virginia Tech were instrumental in developing my analytical skills and critical thinking. However, as I progressed through the program, I discovered that designing circuits and testing signals did not ignite my passion. This realization became a turning point, prompting me to explore a path that truly resonated with my creative aspirations. Ultimately, I made the decisive choice to pivot towards art and design, applying to graduate programs that would allow me to pursue a more fulfilling career trajectory.
Pursuing design has been a transformative journey of personal and professional growth. In the early stages of my academic experience, I often received critical feedback that initially felt discouraging. My initial designs were far from perfect, and the candid critiques from professors challenged my confidence and creative approach.
However, these experiences became pivotal moments of learning. I gradually developed a more resilient perspective, understanding that critique is not a personal judgment but an opportunity for improvement. Design school taught me to view mistakes not as failures, but as essential steps in the creative process. I learned to be more courageous in sharing my ideas and more open to constructive feedback.
This journey has significantly expanded my personal and professional horizons. I've become more comfortable with vulnerability, more accepting of my own limitations, and more appreciative of diverse perspectives. The experience at SCAD has been more than just an academic pursuit - it's been a profound personal development path that has prepared me to face future challenges with confidence and creativity.
